MY REVIEW
Hard To Love You (The Love Series)
Like it says in the synopsis, Mason and Hailey have a totally different love than Mac and Hunter. Mase and Hailey’s relationship is hot, loud and messy. One of the things I love about them as a couple is that they don’t hold anything back. Whether they are fighting or hot and heavy, they go at it full force. It makes their story hot, volatile and very emotional.
The first two books give bits and pieces of Mason and Hailey. HTLY gives us the whole picture. Their story is told in flashbacks and present time. This was the perfect way to write it. You get to relive scenes like Mac’s birthday party at the summer house, but you get Mason or Hailey’s point of view. Megan does a bang up job on writing these flashback scenes! They flow into the present seamlessly and add so much to the emotional part of the story.
One thing I was not prepared for was Hailey’s backstory. It was so heartbreaking! I knew she hadn’t had the greatest home life, but she always was the life of the party and seemed so self assured and strong in the first books. This, to me, was the most gripping and emotional part of the whole book. Every time she fled to the Cahill’s home for refuge and Mason would be her protector and comforter, my heart would melt a little more.
I think this is Megan Smith’s best book so far. Mason and Hailey are both such complex characters and she makes you understand and feel every part. I laughed, I cried, I swooned and I felt like I should go smoke a cigarette more than a few times. 
(You’ll see what I mean when you get to those parts!) She also gives you more about the rest of the crew, including Mac and Hunter’s upcoming wedding, without taking away from the central plot.
One thing you can be sure of….there are plenty of people to hate this time around! Between Hailey’s family, skanky Lily and crazy ass Brittany, I didn’t know who I wanted to choke first. The angst in Hard To Love You is off the charts, and so is the hotness factor. Mason and Hailey love hard, play hard and fight hard! Just writing about it has my heart beating a little faster!
If you loved Trying Not To Love You and Easy to Love You, wait until you read Mase and Hailey’s story. You will be all in from the first page to the last!! The only thing I can complain about is that I didn’t want it to end. Hopefully, Cooper’s book is next and I won’t have to wait too long for my next Cahill fix….(hint, hint Megan Smith)!
